Learning how to wash graphic T-shirts correctly can add months—or years—to the life of a favourite print. Heat, friction and harsh detergent are the usual reasons graphics crack, fade or peel. A gentler routine protects both the artwork and the fit.

Before the wash

Turn the T-shirt inside out so the printed surface rubs against less fabric. Check the care label, separate deep colours from lights and treat stains locally instead of soaking the whole tee. Avoid scrubbing directly across the graphic.

Use cold water and a gentle cycle

Cold water is the safest default for printed cotton tees. Choose a mild detergent and skip bleach unless the care label specifically permits it. Wash similar lightweight garments together; heavy denim, zips and rough towels create extra abrasion. If you are hand-washing, press and swish the fabric rather than twisting it.

Air-dry whenever possible

High dryer heat can damage prints and shrink cotton. Reshape the tee while damp, then dry it inside out in shade. Strong direct sunlight can fade both fabric and artwork. Do not iron over the print; iron the reverse side on an appropriate low setting if needed.
